Product FAQs

What happens if Keevo goes out of business?

NOTHING. Your digital identity and Private Master Key which is tied to your Keevo Wallet Device is still SAFE.

Any other person -- at Keevo, at Iron Mountain or anyone else including the thief in this question -- must have any THREE (3) of the FOUR (4) factor which the user enters into their Keevo Wallet and which are secured and stored on their Keevo Carbon Key(TM). Keevo has created this FOUR (4) factor system to authenticate the identity of a user and restore their private master key on a Keevo Wallet device to sign a transaction. In this question, if a thief who steals a user's Carbon Key and guesses or hacks their password they would only have TWO (2) of the FOUR (4) factors required to authenticate the user. They would NOT be able to authenticate the user and have access to the user's private master key and the crypto assets associate with it.

If Keevo becomes insolvent you will get your Carbon Key back from Keevo and Iron Mountain. If you stop paying for this optional service, you will also get your Carbon Key back.

That said and even when we're solvent and as part of our service, you will always be able to get your Carbon Key from an Iron Mountain Vault. There is a cost for shipping it back and forth, but this is part of the service. It's important as a way for you to restore your private master key on a new replacement keevo if it is loss, stolen or in the unlikely case it becomes inoperable. As part of our trustless inheritance service, your named beneficiary can also 1) verify your death with Keevo and then 2) have us send them the original Carbon Key from an Iron Mountain vault so that they can then authenticate themselves as your beneficiary by entering THEIR password and fingerprint on your Carbon Key. This way, you can transfer your private master key and crypto assets to them AFTER you die without first having to share your private information (credentials, Keevo device, password, fingerprint, ...) with any other human being BEFORE you die.
